Throughout the first quarter of 2024, the performance of the top 5 travel and local apps on the Android platform in Ecuador showcased diverse trends in downloads and active user metrics. Here’s a closer look at how these apps fared, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Airbnb saw a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, peaking at 21.7K in the week of January 8, and gradually declining to 8.4K by the end of March. The app’s weekly active users also showed a downtrend, starting at 144K in early January and ending at approximately 120K in late March.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced a decrease in weekly downloads, beginning the quarter with 6.9K and dropping to around 3.5K by the last week of March. However, the app maintained a relatively stable number of active users, fluctuating between 52K and 64K throughout the quarter.

Despegar: vuelos y hoteles showed a steady growth in weekly downloads, reaching a high of 4.6K in mid-March. The app's active user base also increased consistently, starting at 19.8K in early January and rising to 26.2K by the end of the quarter.

Metro de Quito had a declining trend in downloads, from 8.7K in the first week of January to just over 1K in the final week of March. Despite this decline, the app's presence in the market remained notable due to its relevance to local commuters.

Google Earth recorded a modest increase in weekly downloads mid-quarter, peaking at around 2.2K in early January and again in mid-March. Active users showed stability, maintaining around 17K to 21K throughout the quarter.
